Research

My research focuses on the design and consequences of election rules. I have extensively studied mixed electoral systems, post-communist elections, and election fraud. My current research projects focus on political accountability and include studies of the connection between election rules and party personnel decision-making, the use of parliamentary oversight tools (questions, requests, and interpellations), the role of the courts and commissions in adjudicating election disputes, and spatial variation in voting in several post-communist countries.
