University of Kansas Student Chapter of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES)

The KU Chapter of the Illuminating Engineering Society is open to all students and faculty members interested in promoting the art and science of illumination engineering and lighting design. The KU-IES group participates in activities such as chapter meetings on campus, lighting walk-abouts, local lighting tours led by designers, and many other events held for students by the Kansas City/Topeka IES Chapter.

IES provides students with a unique experience in professional networking. Through attending international and national conferences and regional meetings, Kansas City held events, and many other activities, students have the ability to speak face to face with potential employers and future colleagues. In particular, every year IES holds the LightFair International which is a global event where manufactures, reps, and design firms come together for the biggest illumination event of the year.

Our biggest annual activity is preparing for each spring's Engineering Expo which is the School of Engineering's showcase of interactive displays demonstrating engineering principles for high school students, the University, and the local community.
