About the author:

I am currently Associate Professor in the Department of English and Faculty Fellow in the Honors Program at the University of Kansas. 
 
• Kathryn Conrad's curriculum vitae.
 
• Research interests:     My first book, Locked in the Family Cell:  Gender, Sexuality, and Political Agency in Irish National Discourse (2004), addresses the centrality of gender and sexuality to national identity and nationalist discourses in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. It is one of the initial books in the University of Wisconsin Press  Irish Literature and Culture Series. I have recently completed articles on the keening tradition in Irish nationalist literature; on mural photography in Northern Ireland; and on the surveillance of sex in Northern Ireland and the UK.
