Art Kitchen Web Design...

Artists have different needs for web design than a text driven site. In particular, they require websites that are visually appealing and that reflect their work. Website design should accentuate the content and visual tone of a body of work. It’s important that the site design creates an environment for your audience. In building your website there are also ways to optimize your “search-ability” with site design that I can build into your site that helps search engines find your site.

Once you have a website, it helps to get as much traffic as possible in order to help search engines prioritize your link. Here are some ideas to increase your chances of making to the top page in a Google or Yahoo search:

  • Email the link along with a personal message to your email contact list and lists of customers. Ask folks to help you by linking to your site from theirs, and by passing your email along to their contacts.
  • Link to your site from professional association pages, for instance a guild or a chamber of commerce.
  • Link to your social networking site like Face Book or MySpace, or post on photo sites like Flickr or Picasa, and point back to your website address.

Creativity is more than art, it is well being. It allows us to respond to what is, while not cutting off our dreams about what could be.
