Meet the Team

 

Dr. Suzanne Robinson, Ph.D.
Project Coordinator


Suzanne Robinson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Special 
Education at the University of Kansas. Over her tenure there, she has served 
as the Chairperson of the Professional Development Schools Consortium, 
Coordinator of the Learning Disabilities Program, and Coordinator of the High 
Incidence Disabilities Teacher Education Program. Dr. Robinson's areas of 
scholarship and program development are in professional collaboration, 
co-teaching, access to curriculum, and inclusive school program development. 
She currently is the Principal Investigator of the federally funded project of national 
significance, Special Connections (www.specialconnections.ku.edu) and the 
federally funded personnel preparation, Project POISE (Providing Outreach 
Instruction for Special Educators).


      

Dr. Steve Colson, Ph.D.
Outreach Faculty and Project Coordinator


      
Steve Colson is a Courtesy Assistant Professor in the Department of Special 
Education at the University of Kansas. An educator for 35 years, he has taught 
students both in general education and special education settings. His professional 
interests include the multidisciplinary assessment of students with special needs, 
working with parents of children with special needs,preservice and inservice teacher 
training, and collaborating with urban school districts.
 



Maya Israel, MS.Ed.
Project Coordinator 

Maya Israel  is a doctoral student in the Department of Special Education at the 
University of Kansas. She is pursuing a doctorate in the area of high incidence 
special education. Her research interests include teacher  preparation and 
online learning. Prior to entering the doctoral program at KU, she was a K-12 
resource teacher.















Sheila Kraus, MS.Ed.
Field Based Support Facilitator in KCK
Sheila Kraus is a Continuous Improvement Facilitator in the Wyandotte Comprehensive   
Special Education Cooperative. She works with middle school teachers as well as any 
special education teacher that is working on licensure or is recently licensed. She has been 
involved in the education field for 12 years. She has had experience teaching both general 
and special education classes as well as para-educator experience.
