Plain TeX

The basic TeX format, on which all other formats are built. Nevertheless, Plain TeX is conceptually distinct from TeX itself.

MuTeX

For typesetting music.

PiCTeX

With enhancements for drawing pictures.

SliTeX

For slide preparation. Distributed with LaTeX.
