Research

I have been working in Dr. Staudinger’s lab since 2007. I am interested in understanding the molecular basis of transcriptional signaling by nuclear receptors. Nuclear receptors belong to a superfamily of ligand-activated transcriptional factors that are involved in diverse physiological functions. The pregnane X receptor (PXR) plays a key role in regulating the expression of genes involved in drug metabolism and lipid homeostasis. We are using techniques in molecular biology, biochemistry, and pharmacology to elucidate the signal transduction pathways of PXR.
