Most migrants in the US come from just a dozen countries: China, India, Mexico, The Philippines, Vietnam, The Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Cuba, Korea, Guatemala, Honduras, and Brazil. The United States has intervened militarily in all of these countries except for India. We have strong economic ties with all of these countries except for Vietnam and Cuba. Migration from China, India, Mexico, The Philippines and Korea goes back to the early twentieth century, when these migrants were initially recruited to come and work in the US.
