With friends at Shawnee Mission Park.

About once a year a tank rumbles by behind my home. Some have been bigger than this, but this is the only one I've been fast enough to photograph. Recently, we had a formation of Black Hawks fly over at only about 50 feet. They made the house shake even more than the tanks do!

Fourth of July, 2008. My home town always has a great fireworks display.

Patriotism is great, but I just like the Forth of July for the chemistry.

I had never built a fire until Summer 2008, when my mom bought a firebowl.

Kayla and I cheer for our friend Ebba at her graduation.

What do you give an aspiring pharmacist for his birthday? Pharmacy books, of course.

One of my roommates in Fall 2008 won a Nerf gun, and so the rest of us had to get Nerf guns to "defend" ourselves. =;)

When my little cousin was here from California, I had a good excuse to break out the Legos.

Eagerly unwrapping birthday goodies, Winter 2008.

Late Summer 2008 my mom caught me outside reading while wearing the 2008 ALA t-shirt.

My friend Ebba and I went to her school's homecoming dance her senior year in high school, my freshman year in college.

My friend Crystal and I after a ceremony the night before our high school graduation. Check out her nail polish. Our class sponsor said that anyone dressed outside the dress code wouldn't be allowed to march. She thought he was bluffing, and so she painted her nails all different, all bright colors, a blatant violation of our high school's dress code. He didn't say a word about it the entire weekend.

I gave the valedictory address at my high school graduation in May 2007. It was actually pretty good. I spoke on Joshua 1:8 and man's idea of success vs. God's idea of success. I'd love to show you the video some time.

Me with a book again, though this one was staged. It is a good book, though.

My mom and aunt felt that this was their favorite of my senior pictures, taken Fall 2006. I don't like it that much though, because I remember how they twisted me up like a pretzel to get this pose.

Most of my friends at school like this one best. I would too if it didn't make me look like a ghost. I'm really not that pale, it was just the lighting.

Don't you love the fall colors in this one? My aunt took this and all of my senior pictures. She gave me the original files and the okay to use them however I like, an opportunity that most people don't have.

I enjoyed being in band my senior year. It was my third year as first trumpet in a section of six to nine instruments, depending on the semester. I was given my school's John Philip Sousa Award at my last performance.

Our senior class went on a trip to Florida in April 2007. This is Stephanie and I on the flight over. We had two flights there and two flights back, and somehow Steph and I ended up together on all four of them.

Kayla, Suzy, and I hung out together at Busch Gardens near Tampa, Florida. It has to be the best theme park I've ever been to. They have four great rollercosters, a "4D" theater, and—best of all—giraffes. Of course, being with friends made it even better.

My friend Rache and I on the gulf coast of Florida on Anna Maria Island. The sunsets there were breathtaking.

A group went to the beach at night to look for sand dollars. We didn't find any, but we had a lot of fun anyway. It was beautiful out there: just us, the moon, the stars, and the sea.

Kayla, Crystal, Suzy and I on Cocao Beach, our only trip to the Atlantic while we were in Florida.

My friend Suzy and I at a semi-formal diner hosted by our high school at the New Theater Restaurant. It was the last school function of our senior year.

By my 18th birthday, I was already all set to go to KU.

Reeses: the perfect gift for a birthday, holiday, labor day, or any day.

I was chosen to speak for my school's Week of Prayer. I spoke on the importance of the Bible. I have it on video if you want to laugh at me.

I went to my high school's Christmas dinner with my friend Ebba my senior year.

I went to my high school's Christmas dinner with my friend Stephanie my junior year.

Here I am, a senior in high school, on my floor in my pjs playing with Legos. Some things never change.

This one really has nothing to do with me, but it's pretty cool. My friend Rache likes frogs, and so when we were juniors, our friend Kayla made her a frog birthday cake.

This is my favorite of my senior portraits.

Me playing minigolf with my sister and grandparents the summer between my junior and senior years in high school.

I had the same hair cut from the time I was two until I was a high school junior. When I first changed it I made it blue for fun, but only temporarily.

Our junior year in high school, my friend Kayla made birthday cakes for several of the people in our group of friends, but I don't eat eggs, and so she couldn't make a birthday cake for me. I was fine with that; I didn't expect her to do anything. So I was suprised when I came to school and saw the giant birthday card she had made me instead! It was funny, though, because she taped it to a wall rather than trying to make it free-standing, and several people thought she had taken a can of spray paint and written straight on the wall. =:D

See this face? Take a good look, and remember what you see. When you see this expession, you can know that someone has gotten me started on a topic that I know too much about and a lecture is coming your way. When you see this expression, Do Not Delay. Turn immediately and run to the nearest exit. If you are already outside and there is no exit for you to run to, consider flinging yourself off a cliff instead. Yes, it may hurt when you hit the bottom, but do you see how bored that girl in the background is? That is how you will feel if you stay and listen.
