Thomas began exploring poetry in elementary school. Although his style has changed over the past ten years, his love for the form has not. As a young adult, Thomas continues to find both reading and writing poetry a source of inspiration. Thomas's poetry is diverse and takes a variety of styles that vary from poem to poem. His favorite poets are Ben Jonson and Emily Dickinson, and his own work is often informed by their examples.

Thomas took the first of KU's series of Jr/Sr poetry writing workshops in the Spring 2009 semester. A digital version of his final project, a chapbook of poems written for the class, can be downloaded below at left. At right, selections from the chapbook can also be viewed individually, as can other of Thomas's poems. Thomas's poems have been featured in small, local publications since he began writing in fifth grade. Most recently, three of his poems were published in KU's Little Magazine, a charity project to raise money and awareness for the Lawrence Art Guild.
